I Use This
This is a page I love coming across on someone’s site and learning so much about their processes and tools people use.
Here is a list of hardware and software tools I use in my professional and personal live. I plan to keep this updated as I evaluate and test new tools, workflows and philosophies.
Computers
Home Office
Custom Built Windows
AMD 5xxx with 32 GB DD4 RAM. This system is mainly used for photo editing
UNRAID NAS
Lenovo P520 ThinkStation - with 32 GB ECC DDR4 RAM and 28 TB off storage. This is a former workstation that currently runs all of my docker contains for my self-host apps.
Mobile
Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 6
This is my primary shooting laptop. The gen 6 has 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of NVME storage. I use this during Cheer events while shooting tethered. These events are very hard on equipment. The large amount of photos we take during a weekend (Very close to 90 K), we need quality built laptops. Originally designed for road warriors, these machines are rock solid. They are nothing fancy, they just work.
Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 9
This is my back up shooting laptop. When the Gen 6 gives itself up to the ghost, this guy will step right in. Has 32 GB DDR 4 RAM and I will need to upgrade the NVME, but with the way things are now with the AI bubble sucking up hardware, it will have to wait.
Lenovo P1 Gen 1
Another laptop with a purpose, photo editing. I use this system when I’m on the road and need to get some serious editing done. the P1 has a full gamut screen which I use Spider CO thingy thingy to configure color profiles to ensure accurate color while editing. This is a beast of a laptop, 64 GB of DDR4 RAM, 2TB NVME hard.
Camera Bodies
Canon R5
This is my main body, what I use for all of my non volume work. Head shots, landscapes and my person projects. With a 45 mega-pixel sensor, there is more then enough to crop in.
Canon R6 mark II
I’ve just upgraded two this model from the R6 and the auto focus is the biggest and best upgrade. Don’t get me wrong all of the prosumer range of bodies are great from Canon. The build quality is second to none, when I trade in my R6 it had over 2.5 million shots on it.
